Summer Interlude
8July 20, 2011 by gadaya
Dear followers of The Old Weird America,
As I’m preparing to embark on my first trip to the USA (remember, I’m in France…) I wanted to announce that there won’t be any new post here until the fall season. I’m going to be in West Virginia in August to attend the Clifftop festival and The Augusta Heritage Center workshops. If any of you will be at this places, I’d be more than happy to meet you to talk and share some tunes…
I want to thank everyone who made a donation here and support this work-in-progress exploration of Harry Smith’s Anthology (Three years already…).
I have now all the “Songs” volume to occupy me for the year to come. So, see you in the Fall with some great “Cuckoo” variations…
Happy summer to all,
Gadaya
maybe we can meet up at Clifftop!
Having just discovered the treasure trove that is your blog, I’m pleased this hiatus is only temporary. I’m listening to “Georgia Stomp” as I type this. Have a great trip!
Have a good break from this magnificent labour of love, my friend!!
Bon Voyage!
The Mountain Dance and Folk Festival, The Bascom Lamar Lunsford Folk Festival and the play “Along About Sundown”, are all happening in the Asheville, NC area this fall.
Just wanted to give you an invite.
I hope you enjoy Augusta as much as I did the Blues Week in July!
As a fellow European (in UK) who has long dreamed of a US visit, I envy you!!! My dream is to travel up the Mississippi following the music; I hope you have many great experiences there, and come back refreshed and stimulated. The social songs are probably the (rewarding) hard slog, and you are now, I would suspect, on the homeward and downward run of ‘the project’. I look forward as ever to your great work.
I hope your trip is going well! Thank you for all that you do.
Josh
